March 24th’s Laffa-Palooza – headlined by Rock Comic Mark Eddie – saw a mixture of comedians and musicians, including Jim Krenn, Carlo Volhl, Shari Richards, Ron Placone, Spinning Jenny, Andrew Stockey and Lee Terbosic come out in support of the B.L. Animal Friends will be taking over WTAE-TV on Saturday, March 24 from Noon to 4:00pm for their 7th Annual Telethon, hosted by Pittsburghers Jim Krenn, Cris Winter from WISH, Monty from Y108, PJ Maloney from KQV, Ashley Dougherty and Ray Petelin from WTAE and Gail Buckner from Animal Friends’ Board of Directors.
During the telethon, Jim Krenn and his dog Gizmo will be launching Gizmo’s Friend-a-Thon with special adoption incentives. Head to Animal Friends for – aside from Gizmo’s Friend-a-Thon – a reception with incredible adoption specials as well as photo opps, cupcakes by Dozen and refreshments. During the Telethon, you can go behind-the-scenes with Animal Friends’ shelter pets, follow intrepid Humane Investigations team on one of their life-saving rescue missions, meet adoptable animals and hear an announcement about the future of animal welfare in our region!

As talent network news recently covered, Jim Krenn headed to Washington D.C. this past weekend to receive the Director’s Community Leadership Award from the FBI’s Pittsburgh Division. Jim Krenn received the award personally from Director Mueller at FBI Headquarters:
For more than 25 years, he has been dedicated to supporting community and national charitable organizations. Mr. Krenn has used his popularity to raise more than $1.2 million for Pittsburgh charities through the production, release, and sale of more than 200,000 comedy CDs. He has also worked to raise funds for national organizations such as Toys for Tots, the Multiple Sclerosis Service Society, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Jim Krenn sat down with the Beaver County Times to discuss his post-WDVE world and his future plans:
“Jim Krenn is eager to make people laugh again.
But the ousted WDVE-FM morning man can’t appear on Pittsburgh’s airwaves until August due to a standard “non-compete” clause that was in his contract.
So he’s going back to his roots, headlining a May 26 comedy show at the Byham Theater in Pittsburgh.
“The bulk of the show will be standup comedy from me, but there’ll be a bit of a variety show, too, with some comedy friends from L.A. and from around here,” Krenn said Wednesday following a press conference announcing his post-‘DVE plans.
Krenn said he will remain in the Pittsburgh area, entertaining local fans through podcasts, blogs, social media and his website, jimkrenn.com.
Though his ultimate plan is to return to radio...
